Scientific journals published by the MCSU Press are among the highly rated in Polish and world academic rankings. JOURNALS
We have a modern platform of scientific e-journals created on the basis of OJS (Open Journal System). Currently, the platform of scientific e-journals contains 39 periodicals published by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Press. They operate in the Open Access model under open Creative Commons licenses. Thanks to the platform, the content of the journals is visible on the Internet, which significantly contributes to increasing the transparency of the periodical evaluation and the scientific achievements of scientists. Articles published on the platform of scientific e-journals are assigned a DOI number (digital identifier), which improves the visibility of a given text on the web and increases the chance of citations. The greatest benefit for authors is the significant facilitation of disseminating the research they have developed. The audience for the published texts is much larger than in the case of traditional (paper) publications. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the offer: journals.umcs.pl
FOR AUTHORS – THE STAGES OF THE PUBLISHING PROCESS
The MCSU Press provides comprehensive support to authors during the publishing process, which consists of many stages and involves numerous specialists. Below are the key steps to publishing a book:
- Sending the manuscript in a Microsoft Word file at: aneta.okun-jaskowiak@mail.umcs.pl for
valuation in order to calculate the cost of publishing.
File preparation guidelines:
The text should be in 12-point font size and 1.5 spaced lines. Both bold and italic are acceptable ways to emphasize part of your text. Drawings, charts, diagrams should be prepared and delivered in separate files saved as JPG or TIFF in 300 dpi resolution, in grayscale or CMYK (when the graphics are to be printed in color).- gray underprints cannot be used in drawings, graphs and diagrams;
- the line should not be thinner than 0.25 points;
- the resolution of the illustrative material, both scanned and imported from vector graphics, should be 300 dpi;
- captions for drawings, graphs, diagrams and the source should be provided in Word – not in graphic mode – but as a separate text.
- Confirmation of the availability of financial resources for the publication. The method of publication, print run size and the price are determined by the Publisher in consultation with the Author and the Director of the Institute (or another institution financing the publication of the book).
- We offer the possibility of publishing the book in traditional (paper) form together with its electronic version or only in the electronic version.
- Submission of the text for editorial review.
- The Author’s response to the reviewer’s comments and making corrections.
- Editorial preparation of the text by a professional team of editors.
- Preparation of the typesetting and cover design.
- Before the final printing of the publication, the Author receives a printed sample copy.
- The last stage is the printing of the publication and distribution. In the case of a printed version, the Author will receive 15 copies free of charge (not intended for sale), for promotional purposes.
- In accordance with the agreement signed by the Author, after one year from the date of publication of the book, either in print or as an e-book, the publication will be transferred to the Knowledge Base Repository and will be available on an Open Access basis.
