Based on the palaeobotianical data this book is a thorought monographic study od the vegetation history and climatic changes during about 200,000 years of the glacial Pleistocene. Two complete sequences of fossil lacustrine desposits of different ages from the northern foreland of the Lublin Upland gave a very rich material of pollen, spores and algae. These full and undisturbed Mesopleistocene sequences allow the author also to draw conclusions of a stratigraphic nature. In the light of the presented data and the correlation with other Polish sites it was evidenced that the so-called Ferdynandowian Interglacial (examined in the Zdany profile) in fact consisted of two separate interglacials with a glacial period between them. Therefore, these interdisciplinary problems discussed in the book can be interesting not only for botanists but also for geographers and geologists engaged in the Quaternary research.
